The Matter of the American
Iraq War...
So Many Things To Question!.
Five years -- and no real end in sight.
A war with some positives ... many negatives ... lots of very disturbing
unknowns!
A war justified on claims now discredited. (No WMD; No
connection to al Qaeda)
A war that will cost the American people over a trillion dollars
-- and maybe much more.
A war without clear strategic understanding or planning.
A war that requires 140,000 troops (March, 2008) just to keep "a
smoke and mirrors" peace.
A war where "victory" has no humane or reasonable meaning.
Arrogance. No humility. No apologies.
A war the American public does not want to lose, but does not believe
can be won.
A war with almost 4000
American soldiers dead (March, 2008) -- another 30,000+
wounded or mentally disabled (the official and disputed
count -- March, 2008).
A war with "a documented" 82,000
- 90,000 Iraqi civilian deaths (no official American
count kept by our government -- most reliable figures are from the
IBC
which uses multiple, cross-checked accounts of "actual deaths").
There are other "much higher estimates" -- over
one million by some counts.
****
Simply stated, a war with far more tragically unanswered than responsibly
answered questions!
Some voices asking questions -- and providing
some answers!
(Although you are free to agree -- or -- not to agree with them.)

The Three Trillion Dollar War! Do We Know The Real Cost Of
This War?
Click on the photos above to go to a Democracy Now
exclusive interview with the authors of a new book that claims to
analyze and project the "true cost" of the US invasion and
occupation of Iraq.
The Pentagon is doubting the three trillion dollar
price tag for the Iraq War described above. Click here
to read their side of this financial debate. Regardless, the cost
of the war is enormous by anyone's standards -- and the returns on
the investment "questionable" at best.
All of which leads to the following very disturbing question: Is the War In Iraq the worst investment of our nation's
resources (financial, human, diplomatic) in our 200+ year history?
