About QuestioningMatters.....

The sculpture to the right was created by Michael Alfano.
Entitled, Questioning Minds, it is available for purchase. Click here for info.

Questioning Minds -- or more precisely -- Getting Minds To Question -- is what this website is about! Such an approach to life has been labeled as living by the Socratic Method -- using an ongoing process of questioning as the intellectural vehicle to discover meaning, purpose, direction and values in life's many journeys. For me, this has been the vehicle for the perfect ride. It fits my personality and sense of self. To seek -- for me -- is often more rewarding than to find.

The joy is in the journey describes my approach to life -- and therefore -- QuestioningMatters!

But for some people, riding in the Socratic Vehicle is too "bumpy" a ride for comfort -- too full of ambiguity -- too risky (especially without a lifetime warranty of certainty) to be the vehicle of choice to navigate through the curves of life. Answers (reliable, seemingly permanent, often transcendent of reality), not continuing questions, are more durable transport -- even if those answers often lead down roads that are one way streets or dead end roads.

So I offer this website as a place to test drive anonymously the Socratic Vehicle -- in an attempt to lure as many of you as possible to explore the new life destinations you constructively can engage through a mind that says, AllQuestioningMatters! Because at this website -- no question is too simple, dumb, wild, heretical, scandalous or politically incorrect not to be asked!

This said, I do not mean to imply that I support total anarchy in getting minds to question!

How one phrases questions -- to whom one addresses questions -- whether one uses questions to explore, expand, clarify or manipulate -- all of these things -- and much more -- determine whether some questions are better than others.

For me, the time spent in properly framing my questions often helps avoid the need to spend additional time repairing the misunderstanding and alienation badly framed questions tend to generate. Hopefully, you will find this site a place where no questions are off limits -- but a site where questioning minds ask questions to stimulate -- not reject or deny -- further questions and creative, reasoned thought.

QuestioningMatters website is divided into three main substantive parts:

1. Matters To Question;
2. A Questioning Matters Blog; and
3. Related Links.

Matters To Question is a section with 4 parts:

1. Personal Beliefs, Choices and Actions;
2. Local, State, National Issues and Policies;
3. Global Status Quo, Issues and Needs; and
4. Things That Do Not Fit Any Category.

Each of the sections above has its own page -- and Questions within each section are further subdivided into new pages. Only the lack of time limits how many questions (and pages) might eventually emerge in these sections. And your suggestions for new Questions are welcomed!

A Questioning Blog eventually will provide an interacative location for discussion of the questions raised in the Matters To Question section. Hopefully, questions will then take on a life of their own -- going wherever "inquiring minds" want to go. The only requirement for blog entries will be respect for other readers and their ideas. Stated simply, I hope that while we agree to disagree, all comments will be offered in a responsible and respectful manner -- generating additional dialogue and new questions!

Related Links is as advertised. A place to catelogue and provide easy access to links that will explore, expand upon or significantly relate to topics associated with QuestioningMatters.

Hope that this has provided a useful overview as to what you can expect in this website.
Please visit often!
